My Second Life Updated

Where to start? Life has a habit of moving along so fast we sometimes fall behind. My last post was clear back in February. I need to pull my head out and pay more attention to the posts. I do these posts for two reasons; first to keep you informed of the things I’m up to in my day to day travels through Second Life and second to help my own brain process these things.

Those close to me may have noticed that Dawn is no longer shown as my partner in my profile. This is not to be interpreted as meaning we are no longer together. We still spend all of our time together in SL but we decided to split our stores so we could expand. I wanted to start designing women’s clothing as well as men’s and our vision of how the store would appear and move forward was a little different so at this early stage in the store, it was better to split them. I have begun rebranding my store which is now named HellGate Trading Company (HTC). While I don’t have a main store I do have a store at ShenaniganS Music Café.  I will have a mainstore at some point but want to be able to fill it with quality products before I go down that road again.

I’m still DJing and while my schedule is always changing this is how it looks today.

Purple Gator – Monday & Thursday Noon – 2

ShenaniganS Music Cafe’ – Wednesday 10-Noon

I also will be doing a special Memorial Day tribute show at ShenaniganS this coming Monday @ 4:00 SLT, Hope to see you all there. Remember Memorial Day is not about barbecues but about remembering those who gave their lives in defense of our nation.

Dawn and I have opened a new store

I want to give you an update on what Dawn and I are up to this year so far. On the first of February, we opened Poliwogg. Poliwogg is our clothing store. Working as our alts, Ribbitt & Poliwogg, we have released our own line of clothing. Poli makes women’s clothing and Ribbitt make men’s. We have been working hard to give you the best product we can at the best possible price.

There is a definite learning curve, not only in the making of clothing but how to market our products. This includes how best to texture our vendor boards, where to focus our marketing and getting people in the door to mention a few areas we have been working on. We are in the process of revamping our sale board images and downsizing the actual store now. We have a beautiful mainstore but are going to be giving it up and using a couple of smaller mall locations we have due to a number of reasons. The main reasons are cost and size. We have decided that until our products start selling we could not justify paying the big rent cost. Once we start selling we will reassess where to place the mainstore. Another reason for the move is the original store is so damn big it would take months to fill lol.

Come visit the new store & Ascendent Modeling Agency

Dawn is modeling for Ascendent Modeling Agency (formerly Superior Modeling Agency) and loves doing shows and learning all of the new skills needed for modeling. At times she finds it frustrating which I can understand being a former model myself.  She has taken a sabbatical from hosting to focus on the store but is planning to return to the stage very soon. I hope she does soon as I’m missing my favorite host.

Currently, I am DJing at Southern Comfort Rock Club where Dawn and I also each have a vendor booth for Rock N Roll T-shirt’s – and I will be starting at a brand new ballroom, Black Velvet, owned by Southern Comfort – fuck-u-hoodie-black-board-revised

Check my profile or about page for my schedule.

My thought for the day: Why is it that female avatars have available to them physics to allow for breast bounce but men have no access to the same technology so we can swing our bits?

Dawn and I have been so busy lately. She is preparing a new clothing line and this past weekend graduated from modeling school. I took a position as a club manager only to watch the GM have a melt down and start thinking she was Benito Mussolini. I celebrated my tenth rezday on 11/17…HOLY CRAP, ten years, I need a life lol. We are working to get ready for Christmas, putting up the tree and baking cookies (when will the Firestorm Viewer come out with virtual smells?). HAHA…scratch & sniff SL…the sex trade would go nuttier than a squirrel turd.

As you have seen from my last post I finally made the jump to a mesh body. There were a few things keeping me from making the transition. I like my face so I had to find a body that was compatible with a skin that was compatible with the face applier. My friend David from L’Etre had shown me his new skin so I went from there and easy peasy…it was done. My biggest fear was that my clothing would no longer fit but with the exception of very few items they all seem to fit fine, if not better than before.

Dawn and I decided to down size our living space in anticipation of her opening her store. She is still away off from the opening but as a cost saving plan we now have a skybox above out offices. This is saving us about L$1100 per week. I can live with that. Keep an eye open for her to premier her clothing new clothing line first on the Market Place.

With 17 days until Christmas, we are staying busy and happy and hope you and yours are also.

Models Giving Back is an agency of professional, certified SecondLife models who give of their time and talents to raise funds for legitimate and verified SL and RL charities.

Models Giving Back was founded in October of 2012 by Jamee Sandalwood after a previous agency dedicated to charity work was forced to close due to the owner leaving SecondLife.  Jamee felt the work that was being done needed to be continued and set out to lead the models that were already a part of the former agency into new and bigger endeavors at the newly created Models Giving Back.

To date the agency has partnered with dozens of designers and provided models for runway, print and other functions that support charities around SL.

Rock Your Rack is the creation of Jamee Sandalwood and is owned exclusively by Models Giving Back in SecondLife.

About the National Breast Cancer Foundation

The National Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor, Janelle Hail.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34.  At the time of her diagnosis, there was little information about the disease, and she was forced to make a decision about her health with few options.  After her treatment, Janelle made a commitment to help women around the world by educating them about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.  NBCF’s mission is to save lives through early detection and to provide mammograms for those in need.  This mission includes increasing awareness through education, providing diagnostic breast care services for those in need, and providing nurturing support services.

REBELLION-Bishop Leather Jacket W/ HUD

One of my favorite men’s clothing stores is Rebellion. This store can be found at (Downtown 191.74.22). The owner, Kavon Chrome, designs some of the best punk, grunge, rock and casual clothing on the grid.

I happened upon Kavon last week and had a short discussion with him. I cut it short because he was busy putting out his latest design, the “Dylan” Henley Tee w/ HUD. It is nice to find a designer that is so laid back and even though he was busy he took the time to answer a few questions from me.

Go see what Rebellion has to offer, you won’t be disappointed.
